GG Glass has completed a ground floor exterior façade installation at one of the tallest skyscrapers in Manchester City Centre.
Description
Considered one of the most imposing structures on the Manchester skyline, the 30-storey skyscraper overlooks Piccadilly Gardens, with fantastic views over Manchester. Home to a multitude of businesses and with retail and commercial outlets at ground level, the level of traffic both in and around the building required careful planning and installation.
All works where delivered and completed within a single week with the GG Glass Manchester team carrying out works during the night to avoid disruption to users and visitors to the building, as well as the wider general public.
Site operatives removed the existing screen and fitted a new structure screen with two revolving doors as part of a wider improvement and upgrade programme to the lower level of City Tower.
A 15mm heat soaked toughened glass with polished edges and a 31mm three ply clear heat soaked toughened laminate was specified. Designs ensured a sympathetic replacement sit comfortably with the surrounding (remaining) glazed area, utilising similar stainless steel glass brackets to contain the new openings.
Following a successful project completion and with high praise and positive feedback, a second contract was awarded by Workspace Design to carry out similar works in City Tower for LIDL, as well as third project in the surrounding Piccadilly area.
