The Gateshead branch of GG Glass has helped shine a light on the iconic Souter Lighthouse in Tyne and Wear.
The local team has replaced a series of damaged panels, reinstalling free issue glass, the specialist curved tinted glass specified and supplied by a heritage manufacturing company.
Diane Ince, Manager at GG Glass/Wadds commented: “The Souter Lighthouse is an important building that is protected and preserved by the National Trust. It welcomes visitors from across the globe and maintaining the aesthetics and structure is considered vital.
“We completed the removal and installation within a day. We worked closely with representatives from the lighthouse, closing off public access and establishing a safe work area where installation could be carried out carefully and efficiently. The client was really pleased with our performance and gave some fantastic feedback.
“This project demonstrates the diversity of the GG Glass/Wadds business. We operate across a complete range of sectors from heritage buildings such as this to commercial, retail, industrial and more.”

Opened in 1871 the Souter Lighthouse has been described as an iconic beacon. Painted in red and white and standing proud on the coastline midway between the Tyne and the Wear.
