Working in conjunction with contractors Graham Fit-Out, GGGlass and Glazing are proud to have recently completed brand new shop fronts and interior glasswork for Goldsmiths Jewellers in Exeter. Our Liverpool branch did a sterling job as always, completing the work on time, on budget and with our customary close attention to detail.
High-end retailers such as Goldsmiths naturally have a reputation and brand status to maintain, so the glazing must echo the product. It must showcase the jewels within, framing and enhancing their value. Much like a frame brings out the best in a work of art, so the glazing in a jewellery store needs to be invisible and complementary at the same time.
Maximum Security in High-Spec Glazing
Security is also of concern, with the highest specification needed to protect against all eventualities. As they say, hope for the best but prepare for the worst. Bullet resistant, toughened laminate heat-soaked and tested glass panels were butt joined, giving maximum strength with minimum visibility. At 18.2mm, there’s not much going to get through that, apart from the admiring gazes of the customers, of course. The aluminium bronze, anodised frame to the perimeter of the shopfront creates an unobtrusive, classic elegance that reflects the brand profile.
For the interior fittings, 1,500mm by 2,500mm glass panels create framed display cases, with each panel having a 11.5mm toughened, laminate heat soaked tested, low iron, glass specification. Low iron glass provides excellent clarity, allowing the true colours of what’s behind it to shine through. It has less of a green tint to normal glass, so transmits a higher level of light. It’s ideal for use in all interior glasswork, but for jewellery especially it’s perfect as it dims none of the natural beauty in precious gems or metals.
The overall effect is one of understated opulence that exudes quality and gives customers the kind of shopping experience that makes buying jewellery a special event.
Attracting Customers
This type of job is one of our favourites as it allows us to participate in creating the modern, light, and spacious shopping areas that appeal to retailers, their staff, and customers alike. After all, with the lure of online shopping growing ever stronger, an uplifting and personal shopping experience is what’s going to temp us out of our armchairs and onto the High Street.
Working with Graham Fit-Out and Goldsmiths Jewellers was a pleasure, and with our ever-expanding national network of branches, we look forward to many more exceptional glazing projects in the future.
